THE DREAM:

My dream would be equality. I mean, I feel like that should be everyone’s dream. It’s not. But, just everyone being equal, and no barrier. I guess. I can go longer than that, but we’ll keep the short version. I want to go in, but…

THE STRUGGLE:

My struggle is – I’ll just speak in my industry – I look, I feel, like younger than I am, and a lot of my clients treat me as such. I feel like there’s a respect level that I don’t receive because I am a black woman and because I am young, so I feel like there’s no respect there. But of course once they get to know me it changes a bit, but just that first interaction is a struggle.

WHAT I DO:

I’m an esthetician. I’m in skincare.

WHY I DO:

I love skin. I love the health of the skin, and I love making people feel good.

OPEN MIC:

Don’t touch my hair.  That’s like a main one. I just really hate my hair being touched. I do. Especially people who don’t wash their hands, that’s a huge one. It happens more often--

          Friend: Do you say no?

Sometimes I say no because men really don’t wash their hands. They can go a full day without washing their hands, and then they want… Your hair’s just cleaned and you have your oil--uh uh.
